What you'll learn
  • See AI-driven visitors to your site in real-time
  • Connect your Google Analytics account
  • Track which pages AI sends traffic to
  • Measure the real business impact of AI visibility

Live Visitors connects your Google Analytics to show you the actual traffic AI platforms send to your website. This is the ultimate proof that AI visibility translates to real visits.

Why track AI visitors?

Visibility scores tell you how often AI mentions your brand. But that's only half the story. What you really want to know is: are those mentions driving traffic?

Live Visitors answers this directly:

QuestionLive Visitors shows you
Is AI sending me traffic?Total AI-driven visits
Which pages do they land on?Top landing pages from AI
Which AI platforms perform best?Traffic by source (ChatGPT, Perplexity, etc.)
Is AI traffic growing?Trend over time

Connecting Google Analytics

To see AI visitor data, you need to connect your Google Analytics account.

Requirements

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4) - Universal Analytics is not supported
  • Property access - You need admin or editor access to the GA4 property
  • Matching domain - The GA4 property must match your brand's website domain

Connection steps

  1. 1Navigate to Live Visitors in the sidebar
  2. 2Click Connect Google Analytics
  3. 3Sign in with your Google account
  4. 4Select the GA4 property for your brand's website
  5. 5Click Grant Access

Trakkr requests read-only access to your traffic data. We never modify your analytics.

Note
The OAuth connection is per-user, per-brand. Team members need to connect individually, or you can share access through your GA4 settings.

Understanding the dashboard

Once connected, you'll see a real-time view of AI traffic:

Key metrics

MetricWhat it measures
AI VisitorsTotal visitors from AI platforms (7-day rolling)
% of TrafficWhat percentage of your total traffic comes from AI
Top SourceWhich AI platform sends the most traffic

Traffic breakdown

See which AI platforms are sending traffic:

  • ChatGPT - Clicks from ChatGPT web browsing
  • Perplexity - Clicks from Perplexity search results
  • Gemini - Clicks from Google AI responses
  • Claude - Clicks from Claude web browsing
  • Others - Aggregated traffic from other AI sources

Top landing pages

Which of your pages receive the most AI traffic? This reveals:

  • What AI platforms recommend about you
  • Which content is "working" in AI search
  • Opportunities to optimize high-traffic pages

Matching traffic to visibility

The power comes from combining visibility data with traffic data:

High visibility + High trafficGreat - AI is mentioning you AND sending clicks
High visibility + Low trafficAI mentions you but doesn't link - focus on citations
Low visibility + High trafficTraffic likely from other sources - verify attribution
Low visibility + Low trafficOpportunity to improve both
Tip
Pages with high visibility but low traffic often lack direct links in AI responses. Check your citation sources - are they linking to you?

Privacy and data access

Trakkr requests minimal Google Analytics access:

  • Read-only - We never modify your analytics data
  • Traffic data only - We access visit counts and sources, not user-level data
  • Brand-specific - Each brand connection is isolated
  • Revocable - Disconnect anytime from Settings

We don't store raw GA data. We process it to show you AI traffic insights and discard the rest.

Troubleshooting

"No AI traffic detected"

This usually means one of:

  1. 1Your site isn't getting AI traffic yet - Focus on improving visibility first
  2. 2Tracking isn't set up correctly - Verify GA4 is installed on all pages
  3. 3Attribution is unclear - Some AI traffic may appear as "direct" - we're working on improved attribution

"Property not found"

Make sure your GA4 property domain matches your brand's website domain exactly. If your brand is nike.com, the GA4 property should be for nike.com, not a subdomain.

Connection issues

Try disconnecting and reconnecting:

  1. 1Go to Settings → Integrations
  2. 2Click Disconnect next to Google Analytics
  3. 3Reconnect with fresh authorization
